Headquartered in Louisville, KY with state-of the art facilities in Houston and Chicago, NPC provides processing services for approximately 260,000 merchant customers across multiple industries throughout the United States. With over 350 million transactions and over $27 billion in annual processing volume, National Processing Company is the largest service provider in America exclusively focused on the merchant processing market, making us an authority in the payments industry. Our mission is to be the best in the world at attracting and passionately serving our customers and employees. Evolution of NPC Officially founded in 1979 as a subsidiary of First Kentucky National Bank (FKNB), National Processing Company, LLC (NPC), originates back to the mid-1960's. For most of the merchant acquiring industry's 40-year history, NPC has been recognized as one of the industry's leading and most innovative companies, whose brand continues to represent one of the most established and reliable businesses in the payments industry today. In 1988, NPC merged with National City Corporation (NCC), and in 1996, it became a NYSE publicly traded company. At the end of 1998, Tom Wimsett, a 19-year veteran of the company, became CEO. Over the next four years, NPC experienced tremendous growth and success driven by a keen focus on the merchant processing business. NPC's client base increased by over 500,000 merchant locations and its market value increased by over $1 billion. Wimsett left the company in 2002 and in 2003, he formed a new processing entity named Iron Triangle Payment Systems (ITPS). In October 2004, NPC was acquired by Bank of America for $1.4 billion. Bank of America immediately changed the name of the company to BA Merchant Services (BAMS). Meanwhile, ITPS was busy building a new franchise within the payments industry. In January 2005, ITPS acquired Retriever Payment Systems, Inc. (RPSI), a large merchant processing provider, based in Houston, TX. On September 29, 2006, a significant portion of the original NPC, including over 170,000 merchant contracts, over 400 ISO relationships, over 600 community bank relationships, and the NPC brand and logo, was purchased from Bank of America by ITPS. Concurrent with the closing of the acquisition, ITPS and each of its operating subsidiaries were re-named to incorporate the National Processing Company, or NPC, name. NPC's heritage of over 40 years of payment processing leadership provides NPC with one of the most respected and widely recognized brands in the payments industry.

Robbery
NPC forces you to enroll in their platinum security program or pay an additional 19.95 a month for declining. Doing business with them was one of the worst business decisions I've made. I didn't realize as a fairly new business owner, that you could sign a contract that locked you in as a customer, but allowed the other party to charge you anything they want. The charges in place when you sign mean nothing! If you cancel however, you get hit with a 250.00 fee! It has been an expensive lesson. Without processing a single credit card, I still had no idea what would be taken out of my bank account each month. It's a surprise! The only consistency is it goes up and never down. I call it legalized robbery. Never again. I'm now with Square. What a relief!
